"Basic but affordable service with very basic customer support"
What do you like best about CDNsun?

We've used CDNsun from 2014 to 2020. Their product worked fine during all those years. Tech support was usually quick, not overly friendly or interested in the use case, but adequate. Prices are very good. There doesn't seem to be a lot of development of new features. It is what it is. One of the things I really liked is the ability to enable/disable each edge location separately, unlike others who only allow fine tuning by region or server clusters, or not at all.

What do you dislike about CDNsun?

I've submitted 10 support tickets in the last 5 years and 3 months (4 in the last 3 months), plus one about a problem on their end accepting a payment. Apparently, I overwhelmed them with this average of almost one question per 6 months. In response to my last question, they wrote: "Unfortunately based on your recent high volume of support tickets, basically zero usage of our services and on the fact that your CDN credit is expired for almost a year it has been decided by our executives that we are no more able to provide you our services and your account will be terminated." By "expired credit" they mean that it was below their threshold and I wasn't using much of it. My last support ticket was about a file that should not have been cached, and this probably happened during a reboot of our website when it returned status code 302 instead of 200. All the support rep kept saying was that the origin always has to return a 2xx code. I explained that no website is online 100% of the time, so I needed to know how to prevent caching in such a case. I received the same answer, so I tried to explained again. That annoyed them. They do not seem to be interested in the actual issue of their customer or improving their product. I guess they want to run a service with little questions asked. Which is ok, if clearly communicated in advance.

Admittedly, we spent very little money over the last year, because we needed a more advanced CDN for images and moved away that part from them. I was working on caching all our static webpages at CDNsun though. My last questions were related to getting that working. I was close to using CDNsun more than ever before. They knew that from my questions. I explained that again after they decided to terminate our account, but they never replied. It's their loss in the end. We ended up with better service from another CDN provider. I have never been denied a service during my 19 years of online marketing. CDNsun refunded my credit as promised and I wish the best to them.

Recommendations to others considering CDNsun:

Consider CDNsun if a low price is critical to you, and if you require a basic CDN service without tech support. Do check their specifications before you buy. They do not support the s-maxage parameter, for example.

What problems is CDNsun solving and how is that benefiting you?

We've used their CDN to cache static files like downloads and images.
