I had the choice of self-hosting or cloud-based hosting. I also like that the system is 100x more modern than our previous solution. The fact that it runs in a web browser makes for easier deployment. Our previous solution was written in MS Foxpro, which obviously is out of date, hard to support and very picky to install on the users' PCs. In Addition, the user interface didn't age very well either.
We hosted in the cloud, and unfortunately that can be somewhat limiting and in a few ways not optimal. For instance, we cannot do user maintenance ourselves, including changing passwords. Passwords are selected by the user, communicated to a representative over the phone. Not exactly the most secure way to handle. Another thing is if your business model doesn't fit the software exactly, you sometimes have to get creative. Another minor thing, and it's more to do with the rural area, but the dispatching is a bit too reliant on cellular communication between the drivers' tablets and the back-office. Support is a little too formalized in that all communication happens through the ticketing system only. This can be a little off-putting to some people. Whereas I like that the application is web-based, it opens WAY too many tabs. Anytime you click on pretty much anything a new tab opens. This gets unwieldy over time.
Work through the online training videos. They did a great job putting them together and they answer most questions.
We are better managing our propane business with this solution. The latest version of the software has a robust reporting facility that has proven helpful more than once. Cargas also has a much better dispatch functionality, intergrating GPS tracking, and inventory management.
There's a lot to like with Cargas. The overall layout and ease of finding customers as well as creating new customer accounts is very easy. Also, having an "all in one" software that acts as a CRM, fleet management and logistics tool and also, being able to manage service techs. with a live dispatch board, makes daily operations clean. Being able to have a live fleet management tool is essential.
There isn't much to dislike with Cargas, however I do have a couple points of criticism. One, the service aspect of the program. I understand it is primarily a fuel delivery software and the service end of things are catching up, but there also could be some improvements. Such as equipment spec. displays, text ahead and follow up software integration and integrations with a program for call to action scheduling from the company website.
The cost up front, may have you taken back. But, if you would like the most premium "all in one" software/CRM/Fleet management tool, Cargas would be your best bet. Whether you have a small fleet of drivers and/or techs, or a large one, Cargas is right for you. Support is great and the overall usability and functionality of Cargas is unmatched.
Not many problems. Major benefit is having an "all in one" software, which is very beneficial for a fuel delivery company and even more so, a company like ours which has fuel delivery and a fairly decent sized service department.
I like the tracking feature of serialized inventory items.
I find Cargas very hard to navigate at times.

Not much to dislike. In some instances, the k-factor for pulling tickets can be slightly off or skewed. Other than that, no complaints.
