I got my daughter a Pro account for her birthday. She is really passionate about Canva and the stuff she does on it blows my mind - I'm still creatively stuck in 1990s Powerpoint 🤷‍♂️ Anyhow, not the point here. She didn't realise that the moment she invites someone (she thought she's just sharing a presentation with a friend) the licence automatically switches to a Team licence which is 3 x more expensive. Yes, there was an email sent about it, more than one actually, but since her Canva account is linked to her email address, so I never got a sniff of that until I got the charge notification from my bank.
You can imagine my initial reaction and my readiness to raise hell. So, it's Sunday afternoon, I just came back home from what was supposed to be a pleasant lunch out, now ruined by the bank message. I wrote a really angry email which I asked ChatGPT to tone down to something more polite. I was getting mentally prepared for a really upsetting end of the otherwise good weekend, and to my surprise, not only did I get an almost instant reply, but the charge was withdrawn. I was politely made aware that they are doing it as a favour of course, and that the T&Cs clearly state that there was no wrongdoing, but the whole experience was smooth, professional and dealt with to my satisfaction. Perfect example of how easy it is to get an upset customer turn happy. I'm definitely staying with them for as long as my daughter enjoys this and will happily renew the licence in following years.
