Billwerk helps us focus on our business. I liked the way they handled the issue of reduced sales tax at Corona in 2020.
They listen carefully to their customers, and that is reflected in the product.
Room for improvement: Search functionality. List navigation. Invoice cancellation. Not so comfortable in creating and handling manual invoices - understandable as that's not billwerk's focus.
We use billwork to create all our invoices and send them to our customers by e-mail. We cover all requirements for a secure and compliant solution for invoicing. We have stably connected the solution to our SaaS solution via API and use the export to DATEV.
The contact persons also respond to our needs and involve us in the further development of product features, which in turn are adapted to us.
billwerk's code has legacy issues, which in some places is bothering us as we clean up, grow and redesign.
In Billwerk are all our clients. Since we run a SAAS model. Through Billwerk we manage our contractual service and support for the clients, as well as exports for accounting.
As a developer and technology decision-maker, I truly appreciate how straightforward and sensible it is to integrate with Billwerk. Their API- , Webhook-, and JS-based integration solutions are superbly documented and sanely designed. It clearly shows that they have a deep understanding not only of their problem domain, but of the technological aspects, too.
Naming and structuring of payment methods was a bit over the place initially, and we sometimes had to extract technical identifiers from the source code of their site because they were not listed in their documents. But not a real show stopper, and something that got a lot better over the years.
The great thing that Billwerk solves for us that we can concentrate on our business logic, and Billwerk takes care of all the hassle around payment methods, invoicing, billing, etc. At the end of the day, they only tell us if a user can still be considered a paying customer or not, with all the messy details of answering that question abstracted away from us.
The support is very fast and the answers are very profound.
I don't know anything that I dislike. As with every product, there are always possible improvements.
I can only recommend Billwerk as subscription management software, I haven't had any negative experiences yet. There are limits everywhere, but we solve them with creative ideas.
Who does not necessarily solve problems with Billwerk. We have integrated Billwerk into our SaaS product in order to have an uncomplicated, secure and compliant solution for our products.

What is the best Partner in software? If it just works and if you have as few problems as possible. It's been the same for us with Billwerk for almost 6 years.

We evaluated billwerk to aid with one of our potential business models. Ultimately, we did not need their services because we settled for a different business model. If we stayed with a pay-as-you-go model, we would probably have chosen to work with billwerk because of their well-designed business and process models and the great experience during our initial communication with them.
Our use case would have been based on manual cash transfers because we are a B2B business. That use case was not fully supported at the time, which was in late 2020.
The cost of the invoicing and payment process was higher than our revenue. We would have significantly increased efficiency by implementing the billwerk solution.

We've been using billwerk since 2016 to handle our plans, billing and recurring payments. Their platform is very flexible and saves us tons of time and manual work by automating our processes. Our pricing models could be set up easily, including dynamic pay-per-use charges. Highly professional management team and very responsive product support. Helpful features are added quickly, if needed.
In general, the vast majority of issues or requests in the past was solved fast and totally hassle-free. With our specific setup, however, we still have some manual monitoring work to do regarding SEPA direct debit payments, since these are already flagged as paid in the moment they are triggered. Also, document formatting capabilities might be improved. Nothing to worry about however, since product updates and improvements are deployed regularly.
With billwerk's platform we handle our product plans and automate our billing and dunning processes. The main benefit is simply saving time and staff hours, and thus increasing efficiency. Whenever sensitive tasks are automated, it's good to know that you have a reliable solution in place delivering correct results.
