User friendly, easy to keep track of patient records on a daily basis, great EMR system
Sometimes the Athena app doesn't save the information we added and then we have to retype everything again
We use Athena for scheduling patients, keeping patient information, and billing
The clinical side of Athena is excellent. They also work closely with their clients to grow the product and improve and modernize the workflows. The product is fairly intuitive once you start working with it. The team works hard to ensure that the community is succeeding.
We are a direct pay practice, so our metrics differ from what Athena usually watches as part of their KPIs. We've worked with Athena customer service and direct training to find ways to work around this, but we had to do it all on our own. We found workarounds to make the system work for us. It was challenging and exhausting at the beginning and during implementation, but it's worked out that we have efficient workflows, so it is all good.
It allows us to keep the patient's information together - demographics, financials, appointments/scheduling, and clinical documentation all in one place. It makes the providers' lives much simpler. They spend less time documenting now that we have templates, and they can be more productive and spend more time with patients. It's also allowing us to make changes as needed "on the fly" to meet our needs as a specialty direct pay practice.
I like that it is very easy to navigate around the Athena website. It is very straightforward when accessing a patient's chart/demographics/visits/imaging results.
I dislike how when I copy and paste into Athena, regarding the patient's visit, it pastes in a format which I have fix, deleting extra spaces. This is difficult when the Assessment/Plan is long and has a lot of pointers since I have to fix it for every line.
I am able to enter my transcripted visit note into each section into Athena, whether it's the HPI, ROS, PE, Assessment/Plan, Discussion Imaging, injections, and billing information. Anyone who has access to the chart can then review that information.
The sections in a patient record are well organized and common symptoms are available to click on, saving time on typing. I like there are pictures beside each patient name to make finding their records faster and easier. There is also a sign in page of all the providers so it is easy to keep track of who saw and participated in record keeping of the patient.
There is lag when scrolling through the different pages of the record. It is also not easy to communicate with the health care provider when a scribe is finished with the chart or not. An improvement would be some type of clickable or written notification between the scribe and health care provider.
Athenaone decreases burden on the health care provider by allowing a scribe to listen in on and record the patient visit while the provider is performing physical exams.
I loved the use of systems combined with the amazing customer support staff. Anytime I had a question they were there to help immediately
The cost and difficulty navigating what I needed for my practice
AthenaOne was helping me to navigate the world of insurance
I like that the interface is purple. Also, for the most part it's easy to use. I really like Athena text. The scheduling is probably the easiest part of the program. Labeling and organizing documents is pretty easy too. I also like that it doesn't take long to verify most insurances
Athena can make things way more complicated than they need to be. The worst thing is prescriptions. Not being able to close prescriptions and instead the only option is to deny them is honestly a nightmare. replying to patient cases is also unnecessarily difficult
Creating a schedule, replying to patients in a way that the message is already attached to their account, easy to navigate charts and a way for patients to easily access their charts
The latest updates allow seamless integration into Patient Charts
Seems to work well for our practice. There is some slowness when multiple users are working .
You will not be disappointed the Billing is almost seamless
Our Medical Records are completely electronic. The ability to print forms that include a patient scan code and then be able to scan directly into the chart has been a true time saver.
Ease of use
Reporting functionality
Chat tool
Slow load response time but other than that no major issues
Reducing the need for manual patient records
It's modern and is a lot more efficient and straightforward than the *vast* majority of EMR systems and doesn't have a self hosting element which makes it a lot cheaper and simpler on practices logistically.
EMRs all have problems and are all cumbersome to an extent: Athena is better but make no mistake, it's frustration-less, not frustration-free. There are enough bizarre technical quirks to satisfy anyone here.
It is an EMR
