The application has free features available that can be used without renewal and without buying the paid version. Even in the free version, it's possible to create good content. For example, I like creating illustrations of my fan fiction, and occasionally I use Animation Desk for that. It's not very advanced, but there are some decent tools available and I think it's a good starter option for those venturing out into animation.
There are some minor flaws. Sometimes it does not save the final result or stops in the middle of copying the files to Kdan Cloud
Definitely make sure to save all your changes/final versions on the file, since it does crash occasionally.
It's a fun little up for practicing your animation skills. It didn't take me too long to figure it out, and since I'm eventually planning on moving on to something more professional-level, this is great for a beginner.
My kids have been wanting to create a couple of animations of a little character they came up with - a small round thing in a hat. I didn't want to buy anything and then have them abandon it, so I got this software hoping they'd use it a few times and maybe prove to me they would actually use the paid version of this app or a different one. They watched a couple of tutorials and then figured the rest out on their own. So the thing I like most about this animation software is that it's easy and fun for kids of all ages.
One thing that kind of bothers me is that we weren't able to zoom in - you're able to look at your work only on a standard scale. In addition, the application has very small icons. Oftentimes my kids and I would have to click on the icons several times before actually opening up the menu or using a certain tool/brush. This was a little bit annoying because it slows down the entire process and is kind of distracting to kids.
I recommend this product to both beginners and those who have some animation skills and want to improve on those. This software does have a few quirks, but once you figure them out, it's kind of fun to use.
As I've mentioned before, this software was a good choice for teaching my kids the basics of animation. Although there are minor flaws, it's still a pretty decent way for beginners to grasp the important aspects of how animation is created and build the foundation.
It's not a difficult app to master, by all means. It took me maybe 3-4 hours to figure out what's what and play around. I actually really like the storyboarding feature since you're able to use it for not just animation, but other kinds of visual content, including video.
The app can be a bit slow from time to time, and it has crashed on me a couple of times as well, so make sure to save your project often.
If you're completely new to animation, this is a good place to start practicing because you get all the basic tools that you need to master, so if you're ever interested in pursuing it more seriously, there's room for advancement with this app.
This application helps me to create unique content in a short amount of time - whether it's a storyboard, or a short animation or something more extensive, Animation Desk is a fun app for animation beginners.
I like that I'm able to work in the free version of the app, it has plenty of features to be useful without having to pay for it. Since there are so many apps where you can only evaluate it after you buy the paid version, this is a good deal. The 14-day free trial version is nice since you'r able to play around with is and see whether you like it or not.
Every once in a while you get adds for other Kdan products pop up, which kind of distracts you. There are practically no tutorials for Animation Desk on how to make an independent video project using ready-made videos, which is kind of a bummer. So, I hope that in the future there will be some improvement in this particular area.
Try and find other people who've used this app, get some pointers from them. It's important to use to its fullest potential, otherwise you might be disappointed.
It's nice to create your own stuff, even if initially figuring out how everything works is a bit of a struggle. I like working in Animation Desk mostly because once you do get to know the app more, it's fun and a decent app for animation beginners.
Most of all I like the large selection of tools available and their functionality. With this, you're able to create unique visual products quickly and easily. When I'm creating infographics, I use the minimum number of tools, but still get impressive results. Animation Desk is designed to ensure that you understand it quickly and accurately and use it to its fullest ability.
I don't like the fact that the application crashes every once in a while. You can spend several hours on one project, and since there's no auto-save, you can lose everything you've been working on. Now I save my ongoing projects every 10 minutes or so, and even if the app does crash, I don't lose too much of my work. I'd really like to ask the developers to fix this issue.
Don't rush with anything - watch the provided tutorials, make sure you know how this app works before starting a project. It's easy to get frustrated with it otherwise.
Despite the fact that Animation Desk does not include video editing functions, I'm still able to do some work with videos. I also love the storyboard section. With it, it's easy to keep track of what you're working on. So, when I had to create a small ad for work, it took me barely any time. It's great that Animation Desk combines the functions of editing photos, videos, as well as allowing you to create your own content. It's quite convenient. I like that there are so many tools combined in one app - I don't need to download anything else on my phone/laptop.
This application is pretty useful and what I like most about it is that the free version is not bad either. It includes a set of brushes, a storyboard video tutorial, text fonts, beautiful stamps and an ability to use different font colors. This is enough to make . beautiful animation if you're just starting out and want software that's easy to work with. If you are not doing this professionally, it's exactly what you need.
The application design is not the most convenient and it can look a bit "childish". Sometimes it's a little awlward to use an application that resembles a screen saver from a cartoon. However, I do. One more unpleasant feature of the application: sometimes it takes a very long time to load. If you do not want to wait, try uninstalling the application from your device and reinstalling it.
I use this app on my iPad with the Apple Pencil. Can't imagine using it on a smaller device, and I suggest you do the same - either a tablet or a laptop.
Animation Desk helps me to experiment with animation while not being time-consuming or overly difficult. It's a good beginner app, so if you're completely new to this, then check it out.
Animation Desk is both easy and fun to use. As soon as I downloaded it on my phone, I watched the tutorial right away - very detailed. I was able to start drawing within minutes. Very cool.
Yes, sometimes brushes and tools are not loaded fully or do not appear at all in the toolbar, and it can be a bit slow every once in a while - but what you get in return makes it all worthwhile.
I recommend taking a closer look at other Kdan Mobile products, in particular Markup, Write-on Video and Noteledge. This can be useful as they contain other interesting tools that help to edit and create visual content.
I like to spend my free time drawing interesting storyboards or short animations, just because I like to share them with friends for fun. The application is nice, it can be useful for a beginner in order to further their animation skills. At the same time, it allows you to share projects with friends directly. This is a cool feature and I think that it is the main its advantage.
This app is really good for starters like me. The app isn’t confusing to use like several others. The apple pen connection is very good.
I would like the ability to edit layers and to rotate and resize a little bit easier.
It’s helping me become a better animator because it’s not forcing me to use complex tools and it’s very easy to maneuver through.
This application is as simple as it gets and very functional at the same time. I enjoy creating high quality animations, and since I was never keen on creating video content, I was pleasantly surprised that with Animation Desk it's possible to edit videos and create storyboards as well. It's possible to make your own mini-movies or cartoons/animations - easy and fun.
It's impossible to add filters to the finished video, change the tilt level, crop, or add animation or a GIF to the finished project. Same thing with images/photographs. You can edit them in a very simple way, however, if you want blurring or any kind of retouching, you're out of luck.
Watch all the tutorials, they're definitely a necessity.
The Animation Desk is not a bad app for using on the go. It works well on my iPad, with a stylus. I can quickly create a simple animation, share it and so on. The app is best suited for tablets and I find that it works best on a smaller device, rather than my desktop.
