User reviews of Hornetsecurity VM Backup express overwhelmingly positive sentiment, praising its ease of use, fast backup and recovery speeds, and cost-effectiveness compared to competitors. Many highlight the user-friendly interface, especially for those with limited experience managing backups. The most frequently mentioned positive features include unlimited VMs, multiple backup options, and excellent technical support. A recurring suggestion is to improve the off-site backup server operating list by displaying the host name alongside VM names. Some users noted minor issues with off-site backups and updates, but these were generally resolved quickly with the help of support.

Unlimited VMS than some complex calculation process. Make it simple. VMbackup supports multitude of backup options / destinations. Does not blow out the budget. VMbackup works fantastic from V7, V8 and now V9. The help support has been awesome.
With multiple HOSTS with same VM name [ ie CpanelA / CpancelB or multiple hosts.. sorry I did not name them ] in the "offsite backup server" operation list, add the HOST name please as well. The Report shows it, but reall this needs to be in Dashboard view as well.
Many hosts, with many VMS and do not need a specialised Administrator.. general IT skills can master it. Helpdesk can provide the missing details. Problem that is solved is simplicity of operation, and it works 100%.
Setting up the backup is super simple, in combination with wasabi shot cloud storage, it works like a charm!
Reverting a full machine from cloud storage is slow, and no time indication is given.
complete vm backup, this works better than with other programs.
Altavo VM Backup has a great user interface and makes it very easy to schedule backups, verifications, and off-site storage. The Cloud Management Console provides a single browser-based admin panel to manage backups for my entire organization. The deduplication feature really saves storage space on incremental backups.
I had an issue performing updates on a couple servers but that was resolved with help by tech support. I would like to see a bit more helpful information when errors occur to aid in troubleshooting, although support has always been able to help fix whatever issue I have run into.
With Altaro I have full backups of every VM instance in my entire organization for peace of mind should disaster strike and require recovery of a server. Altaro also reduces storage requirements on my NAS.
I love how Altaro just works. It was easy to set up with mostly drag and drop configuration. I don't need to use any other tools with altaro Because it provides everything I need to see under one pane of glass. Backups are extremely fast.
Well I don't like is when I receive a backup confirmation email, it tells me off-site backup was a success. I can't tell whether the off-site backup was a success for off-site server or cloud storage. I think the backup confirmation email could be better configured and easier to read if it was in a table.
One of the benefits of Altaro is the cost. I'm surprised it doesn't cost more for what it does. I've also more productive with Altaro Because I don't have to babysit the software.
Simple and clear UI, flexibility in backup/restore options, works very well with Hyper-V clusters. But the real gold is the in-app support chat, and the amazing support team.
My only gripe is the manual management of backup locations per-VM, and the backup schedule per-VM. It would be better if new VMs on the hosts could be added in automatically.
I don't think about backups and they are always there when I need them (which is often enough).
Quick and effective technical support .
Reports and email alerts .
Isolate the network between the host and NAS to prevent an attack.
Corporate backup strategy for all VMs
I love how Altaro makes so easy to granular restore any file and/or vm. The scheduling backup section is very easy to manage with a simple drag and drop.
Nothing in particular, Altaro offers all the features I need without any noticeable disadvantage
File Granular restore has never been so easy. Restoring full vms is fast and secure.
We've been using Altaro VM backup for several years and it has proven to be a very reliable and flexible solution for our company.
I wish they offered a 'dark theme' to the GUI. The text contrast can be a little light for 'old eyes'.
Altaro allows us to control retention periods for different virtual machines granularly. It gives us the ability to recover indivudal files or restore an entire server rapidly quickly.
The simplicity is the most significant factor of altaro, we were switched to their backup solution within just a couple of hours. It made us realise how much we needed it. Support was also very helpful and continues to be helpful.
None that I can think of off the top of my head, Altaro has provided a fantastic backup solution to us and so far has continued to support us in different ways.
The sales people at Altaro will always be honest and open with you, so just chat with them about your requirements and they will see you through the rest.
We needed a backup solution that was easy to monitor when I wasn't in the office and altaro has provided exactly that, we get notifications when our backups have been completed. Our old provided (MSP360) was very convoluted and had lots of general bloat within the software, but with altaro the client is installed directly onto the hyper-v instance.

The product itself works perfectly. I've never only minor issues with it and when they've popped up I've been able to get them resolved quickly with the help of the support staff.
I dislike that the software can not resume an interrupted off-site backup. If the off-site replication is interrupted, it needs to start from scratch.
I am protecting over 50 virtual machines for my client's - all critical to their businesses continued operations. I've realized significant cost savings versus Datto and it's considerably easier to use and manage over Veeam.
