"Intuitive, yet easy to onboard and work with"
What do you like best about Akamai?

Akamai is simple to onboard into your environment. The Dashboard is easy to navigate, and reports and overviews into security issues can be accessed quickly.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

Web Security was only able to protect ports 80 and 443 sites, so there were sites like Citrix Gateways that I was not able to monitor with Akamai due to the port restrictions.

Recommendations to others considering Akamai:

We switched from Imperva WAF to Akamai and were impressed with how easy it was to integrate.

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

Secures perimeter sites, plus easy access to Edge DNS plus SIEM Collector integration. Increased productivity.

"promiscuous mode"
What do you like best about Akamai?

The best part is the caching process. The way it caches in the nearby areas is really worth appreciating. I have been using Akamai CDN since quite a long time i.e. around 5 years till now and its doing great.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

As of now there is nothing much that I can think of as dislike in Akamai COntent delivery Network i.e. CDN. I believe they can improvise the plans though. But again, its not that necessary. Guys are doing great job

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

Like I said, Akamai Content delivery Network i.e. CDN is helping people to fetch data from the internet with lightning-fast speed. It helps organizations to aggregate more and more data in limited amount of time. Proxy services are also of great use

"Great Cloud System"
What do you like best about Akamai?

Akamai offers great cloud services with high security measures. It is quick and safe. the uploads run in the background and it is seemless. Their Ddos protection is alsot unparrael with what we use. the security they offer allows us to work without any worries

What do you dislike about Akamai?

there are times that the cloud system is down and makes for a lag. this does cause a problem once and awhile but it is quite rare it happens. when the issues arise the problems are usually solved within the 1st hour. Overall, it is still 1 of the most reliable services out there.

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

Akamai has helped reduce our yearly costs significantly. by using one company that offers cloud services and system protection, it has helped us keep our IT fees low and without any worries.

"The best CDN - ever used"
What do you like best about Akamai?

The speed, earlier days - I remember those days where I grab a cup of coffee when a link is clicked and after I come back, I get to see what I wanted. Akamai changed everything into Milliseconds and I've stopped taking coffee during work

What do you dislike about Akamai?

Akamai's cdn is a wonderful and thoughtful product. There is nothing to dislike unless if somebody wants to be too lazy

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's the speed and security associated with it.

"GTM is awesome!"
What do you like best about Akamai?

Their GTM product is very flexible (rich apis) and stable. This was not the case with my previous DNS provider.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

Their support is not always the fastest. A couple of times, I had to nudge my account manager to push tickets forward.

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have a globally distributed application. We use Akamai's GTM to balance traffic across all the POPs. This will route end-users to the closest healthy POP to them.

"CDN with a Reputation"
What do you like best about Akamai?

Akamai is a trusted name in content delivery, and well known for their other products. Using their CDN services just feels good. Of course, it does not disappoint. Their UI is intuitive, and easy to use in general.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

The UI seems a little outdated in terms of styling. Even with a solid product, they can't hang in terms of UI design with Cloudflare and the like.

Recommendations to others considering Akamai:

USE THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS. They integrate seamlessly, so why not?

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

CDN services! It's nice to use Akamai if you also want performance monitoring and the like..

"Akamai Review(current customer0"
What do you like best about Akamai?

Global server presence. Reduces latency.

Used for downloads so downloads are expected to be from the closes local server.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

Kind of expensive to use. The variable pricing model is not conducive to our business. Would prefer to have fixed costs for unlimited use.

What problems is Akamai solving and how is that benefiting you?

1. Distributing apps globally in the fasted and most relevant way possible.

2. We have benefited from Akamai's uptime promise and download speeds, even under the most demanding conditions,

"Solid and Robust offering"
What do you like best about Akamai?

My favorite product in their suite is the Property Manager, which is the latest version of their configuration management portal for managing edge caching configurations. In previous versions of the Luna Control panel, many options were not exposed to end users and required working with customer care to get them added to the configuration. In property manager you can control and tune hundreds of settings, its very rare we have needed to loop in ccare for config changes. As a caching solution in front of an S3 or ec2 origin, cloudfront has maybe 20% of the options compared to Akamai.

What do you dislike about Akamai?

When you do need to loop in professional services/advanced consulting, it is not cheap. Configurations can also take quite awhile to propagate (2-4 hours). API availability has been very poor thus far, we would love to automate generating configurations, and i believe there are initiatives around releasing these API's to public soon, it has just been slow to come (we've been asking for a couple years).

Recommendations to others considering Akamai:

Hopefully you are able to understand your expected traffic at Akamai's edge, so you can negotiate the best price/GB based on what tier you land in.
