3D Design Software to Paint Materials and Textures
User-friendly interface, Realistic texturing capabilities, Efficient texturing workflow, Extensive material library
High system requirements, Steep learning curve, Occasional software bugs, Limited export options
User reviews of Adobe Substance 3D Painter highlight its ease of use, particularly for those familiar with Adobe Photoshop. Its real-time rendering and robust library of materials are praised for facilitating quick and efficient texturing. However, some users express concern about the software's steep learning curve for beginners. Additionally, the cost of the subscription-based model is a recurring point of contention, with some users finding it expensive. While the software is generally lauded for its flexibility and high-quality results, a few users have noted stability issues and limitations in exporting to specific 3D software.

The thing I enjoy the most in painter is how similar it is to photoshop, which means I can mentor someone who knows nothing about it in a day and the artist would be ready to work on it right away.
I wish I could see animation to paint on deformed geometry and see how it will react.
Think like photoshop layering and prepare details on blocks by stacking folders and building up like a painting, from macro to micro.
Highly detailed 3D food. I can have a pretty good preview of the final result, and sometimes, I prefer to bake the displacement and export the displaced geoemtry simply. It is great!
baking and texturing also for somw beginners it is really good for rendering and creating there portfolios ,for me as a 3d artist it is the second most useful software.
In previous version there were some issue like geometry mask and cage management issues while baking but it is now good in upgrade version so for me it is best software.
there was time people used photoshop and other software for painting but painter is way more time saving and efficient in all manners from painting to decal work that's why.
Any texture we want to create in 3D models ,this adobe painter helps to create that model so realistic
For using this software high configuration system is required
This software is full of high quality materials and procedural texturing that helps to create so many high quality textures we want in 3D models
Since I work in 3D industry, I find it super handy while painting in 3D. The best thing I like is I can change the lighting while texturing to see how light effects the materials
I dont quite understand the different UV projections that are available in texturing. Some of them are too confusing to visualize mentally.
The GPU TLD issue is annoying mostly. It also crashes during long computations which is very annoying to me personally.
Adobe Substance 3D Painter is a powerful tool for creating and texturing 3D models that provides a wide range of features and tools to aid the 3D artist. It has the ability to generate procedural textures, import and texture models created in other software, and create PBR materials. It is widely used in the video game, film, and animation industries, as well as in architecture and product visualization.
High system requirements: Substance 3D Painter can be resource-intensive, and it requires a powerful computer to run smoothly. This can make it difficult to use on older or less powerful systems.
One of the key features of Substance 3D Painter is its ability to generate a wide range of procedural textures using a variety of algorithms. These textures can be fine-tuned using a wide range of parameters, making it easy to create highly detailed and unique materials. The software also includes a variety of brushes, filters, and tools that allow users to paint, sculpt, and manipulate textures directly on 3D models.
Easy to color change, Pattern, style really excellent
Still not link with Adobe illustrator and beta verson
Easy to make creative images in 3d
Like the simple user face and so many things to do with a single tool.
It takes too much to render the final result, which is so hectic and time taking.
No need to buy 3D illustrations from another website.
I have been using Substance Painter for several years now from before Adobe's acquisition of Allegorithmic, since I've delved into this piece of software I can say it makes quickly creating your base textures a breeze as well as allowing you to finely detail each aspect of your texture with layer and layer blending you'd find in Image Editing software like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, and GIMP. This ability to take my expertise in Raster image editing software and applying to in 3D rather the just editing flat 2D texture maps allows for placing detail the way you want it to look directly on your 3D model and with its sister program Substance Designer you can author PBR files and use them directly between each program.
I dislike that Adobe has turned it into another Software as a Service element creative professionals need to shell out money each month for continued use. I was fortunate enough to have bought a perpetual license from Allegorithmic before Adobe's acquisition so I'm not paywalled out of just using the software. I also found some aspects like opacity mapping and some blending options to not work how they should and it sometimes made making transparent or semi-transparent elements to be more difficult to create.
If you want a powerful tool for quickly designing your textures or to update or improve on existing textures in your 3D workflow I'd recommend this and Substance Designer.
It allows me to more quickly create my textures and to directly paint them onto my 3D meshes compared to the old way of exporting UV Maps into Photoshop and designing them somewhat blindly there and updating my models to tweak them. The connectivity with Substance Designer also allows for material authoring and using those created PBR's directly in Painter. This greatly boosts my texture workflow in my opinion.
As I have been using Adobe Creative Suite for the past 3–4 years, I recently started learning 3D modeling, and then I got to know about Substance 3D Painter, which is an industry-based texturing and materialising software. I love using it.
It doesn't allow moving texture directly to our preferred modelling software like 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender. Also, expecting UVW Unwrap accessibilities tool in the future update.
I sucked at texturing in 3D modelling softwares like 3ds Max and have been using the Adobe Creative Suite for the past 3-4 years; Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. And when I got to know about Adobe Substance 3D Painter, which is used like "Photoshop for 3D Texturing," I strongly preferred that Adobe Creative Suite users use this software.

Substance Painter has been a staple for 3D texturing for many years now, you can think of it as photoshop, but for 3D. With a number of features that makes creating masks, materials, and textures much easier than manually creating it in a 2D photoediting software. Over the years its grown more and more and the features have become better and better.
Substance Painter was recently purchased by Adobe, although its funding and development has increase, but so has its price.
